The X-Games are Upon Us

August 6th, 2005

BMX Backflip from the X-GamesIt’s that time of year people. Where the world of extreme sports takes another step towards the mainstream, and some of the big dogs come out and go really big in the X-Games.

Today the events leak off of ESPN for a while and there is 3 hours on ABC. The surfing finals are coming up now from what’s known as the Mexican Pipeline, Puerto Escondido Mexico. This wave can get really gnarly with stiff wave faces 25 + feet. But today it’s looking a bit smaller which should leave some room …

Wal-Mart sues boss $5-really-large for ‘fiddling’

July 29th, 2005

WAL-MART is suing a former vice-chairman for more than $5 million (£2.8 million) amid claims that he used his expense account to buy personal items including dog food, underwear and a Celine Dion CD.

Isn’t Celine just so hard to resist?

If this guy gets pinned he’s definitely getting the short end of the stick. It turns out that they’re accusing him of spending about $500,000 during 5 years of employment. I guess he should’ve flown to Vegas and gotten backstage passes?

But then again, WAL-MART paid him $15 million over the course of two years.

I’m confused…. I think that financially Mr Coughlin …

Big Boston Shark

July 22nd, 2005

shark.jpg I’m not really one to encourage Shark Fishing Tournaments, which don’t seem to be much more than a bunch of guys cruising around in boats trying to show off the fact that they have not one, but two nuts, and can bait a hook.

But, today I’ll make an exception, and I’ll do it for this exceptional shark!

I don’t think that you typically find too many Tiger Sharks in the North East, and this one is a little bit above average to say the least. Tiger Sharks are known to be up towards …

London Terrorist Attack

July 7th, 2005

Map of London Transit System including bombing locations

LONDON, England (CNN) — At least 33 are dead and scores wounded after a series of four “callous” and coordinated bombings in London’s transport system, Scotland Yard said.

On days like today, even words fall short. “Barbaric” hardly sums up the intentions of those responsible for the attacks .

Wicked“, there’s one.

Foolish“, that’s an accurate one.

Abominable“, now there’s a word that you don’t hear very often. Probably because it carries a very heavy sense of severity.

To me though, the sum of those three words, still remains speachless when considering …

Mix Archive is Back Up! [House/Trance/D&B]

June 18th, 2005

After a bit of a hiatus, I’ve finally gotten around to restoring the mix archive.

http://mediaflush.com/promomixes/

If you’re into House, Trance, Breaks, Garage, Drum & Bass or just about anything that makes it way to vinyl then there’s probably something in there for you! When I started spinning records I had an idea and I’ve stuck with it.

“Buy records that are classic and stand the test of time. Records that can be dropped in a mix 5 years later and make the floor melt all over again.”

I still like that idea.

Hop on over and check it out. >>

Merchant Account business Heats Up!

June 18th, 2005

Two bits of news popped up recently that’s worth putting on your radar:

1. PayPal has just started offering a more traditional Merchant Account processing solution called “Website Payments Pro“. For $20 bucks a month you’ll get an integrated Payment Gateway that can process transactions seamlessly and you will no longer have to send your customers and clients to an external PayPal payment page.

This is going to be big for PayPal, and it will take a down a wall that has kept many business from using their service as a Primary Payment Processing Solution. I’m looking forward to learning some …

Apple OS to run on Intel Chips

June 7th, 2005

Oh…. Knife in the back!

Just kidding… just kidding….

I don’t think this is worth ranting and raving about. If anything, spend that energy on the whole Adobe and Macromedia deal.

On a little sidenote, last year I saw some folks that had ported OS X to run on windows boxes, and there is another project that even has it running on an XBOX. Don’t believe me? Google it!

For now here’s the scoop on the official Apple/Intel deal. Check it out here:
